Editorial: No WSJ, Apple isn't stuck in China

After years of false reporting that demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of Apple's supply chain or even the value of its operational expertise, Tripp Mickle of the Wall Street Journal is back, this time with a story about how foolish Apple was to rely on Chinese manufacturing and how hopelessly desperate its plight now is, due to the coronavirus outbreak. He's wrong, here's why.

Note: I took this photo in 2014 from the 105th floor of a skyscraper hotel in Shenzhen, PRC, just north of Hong Kong on the southern border in one of China’s first Special Economic Zones, where the Communist Party has allowed significant capitalist enterprise to flourish since 1980. That brought in massive international investment and has created a supply chain and a critical mass of specialized workers capable of running some of the world’s most advanced mass production facilities. Nothing like this exists in the United States, nor can it nor will it ever in the foreseeable future.
